Keep it up Digs, right on track for another title
About the Team
The Tierney's Digs have been a staple in Manchester softball for decades now. After their championship in 2005, the Digs hit a bit of a rough stretch. With a cleanup hitter/left center fielder in his mid 40's and a black guy named Colistis in left, it was troubled times for the Digs. The tide started to turn in 2006 when the next generation of players were starting to burst onto the scene. Irrelevant players were weeded out and young guns came in to fill their shoes. New rivalries were born, memories were made, and thousands of beers were crushed at the top of Nike Site. After a few deep runs but generally a lot of postseason disappointment, the Digs gained valuable experience that would prove to go a long way.

2013 featured a team that was considered a disappointment throughout the regular season but was incredibly hungry for a shot at the trophy once the playoffs rolled around. After multiple "upsets" and hard fought victories, Tierney's found themselves back in the championship game. Every player got their wish when the Digs found out they would be matched up against their so called rival, Pirates Crew, in the finals. A rival is defined as someone who "competes for superiority with, or to be or seem to be equal or comparable to yourself." It turned out that Pirates Crew wasn't much of a rival, as the Digs took care of business as usual and claimed their coveted prize. Months of anticipation passed as the Digs prepared for their first regular season at Charter Oak. The opponents may be have changed, but the Digs tradition of excellence hasn't wavered. Tierney's are off to a good start this season in their quest for a repeat. Stay tuned to see what happens next with this storied franchise.
